A delicate expression of Oak Knoll District Chardonnay. Subtle and reserved, honeysuckle, lime, apricot nose. Concentrated, full-bodied, mango and tropical flavors. Hazelnut, creamy, savory finish.
MIRA Chardonnay 2014
Mango, Tropical Flavors, Hazelnut with a Savory Finish
Whole cluster pressed. Fermented and aged in stainless steel as well as neutral French oak barrels. Aged on the lees for 12 months with minimal racking and minimal stirring. Partial malolactic fermentation to soften acidity.
Vintage 2014 is best remembered as the year of the big, Napa centered earthquake. This occurred in August, at a time most wineries are preparing to receive fruit if they haven’t already done so. Though wineries were impacted, the vineyards themselves su ered no damage. The months leading to harvest showed a drought tendency, with the 2013/14 season being one of the driest on record. Though rainfall was about half of normal, we received quite a bit of rain in February and March, enough to hold us over for the rest of the season. The warm Spring and dry Summer resulted in smaller grapes, which typically means a higher degree in flavor concentration. Nature gave us an unexpected bounty in 2014, however another excellent vintage.

“Made from the Robert Yong clone of Chardonnay, Mira’s 2014 Chardonnay has a light gold color and beautiful notes of delicate white peach, honeysuckle and fruit with some crushed rock minerality in the background. Fresh, lively and medium to full-bodied, but displaying lots of complexity and class, this is a somewhat understated but intense style of wine that reflects terrific winemaking. Moreover, it is a great value. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.”–ROBERT PARKER
