A New Home for the Mira Family!
Mira Winery Moving to New Yountville Facility
Breaks Ground This Summer For Crush in 2018
For Immediate Release
Yountville, CA (February 15, 2017) – Jim “Bear” Dyke, the proprietor of Mira Winery of Napa Valley, recently purchased 10.5 acres of vineyard land at 6170 Washington Street just south of the city of Yountville in the Yountville AVA of the Napa Valley. The property, which is fully entitled for the operation of a winery and tasting room, was purchased from Napa Valley developer James Keller. Dyke announced his plans to break ground on a state of the art winery this summer. The winery will be located approximately one-half mile from Yountville making it easily accessible for wine country visitors staying in the heart of the Napa Valley.
“Since our founding Mira has been synonymous with the Napa Valley,” Jim “Bear” Dyke said. “Once complete our world class facility will combine the quality that reviewers and wine connoisseurs alike have discovered with a unique experience for visitors and natural beauty that only the Napa Valley can provide.”
Mira Winery, founded by Dyke and winemaker Gustavo Gonzalez, is a boutique winery producing a broad portfolio of predominately single vineyard wines exclusively from the Napa Valley. Mira, which began sales in 2012 and is currently distributed in 18 states, has already received critical acclaim for a number of its varietals from an array of publications and can be found on the wine list of fine dining establishments nationwide.
The property rests in the shadow of Wappo Hill, the longtime home of Robert Mondavi, and has special meaning for Gonzalez who worked for Robert Mondavi Winery for 17 years. “It’s exciting to design a winery that will specifically accommodate my natural winemaking style,” said Gonzalez. “Visitors will taste wine and experience the intuitive hands on approach to small lot winemaking.”
James Keller initially developed the parcel, which features rare frontage along Highway 29, and received Napa Valley Planning Commission approval for a winery on the site late last year. “It’s a fantastic location right along the valley’s main artery, perfect for a boutique winery like Mira,” said Keller. Keller is the owner of several premier downtown Napa properties and continues to develop exciting new projects throughout Napa in addition to his work as a Real Estate Broker for vineyard, winery, and estate properties.
The “Miracle” of Mira
In 2005 Jim “Bear” Dyke, Jr. and Gustavo A. Gonzalez met by chance at the Off The Record Bar at the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C. After a lengthy discussion of the Golden Ratio the conversation moved to wine and by the end of the evening the two had mapped out on napkins what they thought a premier Napa Valley winery could be with words like boutique, approachable, hand crafted, grape source.
Four years later the duo identified their first block of grapes in Hyde Vineyard and began to put the necessary pieces in place to become a winery. In 2012 they launched Mira Winery. Einstein said there are only two ways to live life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. Mira which is the Latin root for miracle, encompasses more than just a personal philosophy it captures all the process on the path to wine. The Mira logo is the symbol for good harvest.
Today Mira has vineyard blocks in acclaimed one-of-a-kind vineyards across Napa Valley. The diversity of vineyard blocks mirrors the diversity of wine produced. Mira produces hand crafted, all-natural wines year on year, each a true expression of the unique grapes that went into it. Aged to produce flavors defined by their understated elegance, Mira wines are ready to drink upon release and are built for enjoyment after years in your cellar.
Mira is defined by its roots, anchored in the lineage and longevity of the alchemy of Napa Valley.
