Thanksgiving Turkey Tips & Tricks

Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family and friends and celebrate what we are all thankful for. It is also a time of huge preparation for one magnificent feast featuring one delicious bird, turkey!  There is a great deal of effort that goes into preparing the perfect turkey and we want to make that experience as easy as possible.   Here are just a few tips to help when tackling your turkey:

  • Done or not done a question in your home?  Before you take your delicious turkey out of the oven, an electronic thermometer is a great way to make sure it’s not over or under cooked.
  • Turkey done, now what?  Poultry lifters to the rescue, these simple lifters allow you to transfer your turkey from the oven to the cutting board.
  • Turkey juice everywhere? Many gravy recipes call for the juice from the turkey that seeps out as it is being carved.  It is crucial to use a cutting board with a juice canal that lines the edges of the board to catch the wonderful turkey juice for your gravy.
  • Thick or Thin? Whether you are skilled at carving or not, you have two options that will give your turkey the slices you’re looking for.  An electric carving knife is an easy way to get those delectable slices, or if you’re feeling adventurous, a two-piece carving sets allow for stability and a perfectly sliced bird.
