Winemaker Wisdom: “Simply Spectacular” & Take a Drive with Gustavo

We finished harvesting our fruit this past Thursday with the final load of Cabernet Sauvignon from Skellenger Vineyard in Oakville. The weather the past few weeks has been nothing short of spectacular. That combined with Winemaker patience allowed some extraordinary hang time.

The juices are simply spectacular.

Initially the vintage seemed slightly inferior to 2012 but this hang time is allowing us to have some of the best juices we’ve ever had. The only drawback is elevated sugar levels. We’re talking close to 30 Brix in some cases! But the quality is unreal. Now the challenge is to ferment to dryness and we will start that undertaking tomorrow!
