Fall for the right wines this autumn
With autumn just around the corner, new recipes are calling out to be whipped up, and along with them come new and different wine pairings. Because our diets tend to be modified somewhat during the cooler months, our wines need to be no exception.
Gregory Dal Piaz of Snooth said his favorite part about autumn is the hearty reds that get to take center stage once again after a season of whites and chilled reds. Mushrooms and truffles top his list of autumn favorites. For a good pairing Piaz recommends a good Pinot Noir. The 2010 Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir is an excellent example. With its seductive, bewildering and racy aromas that lead to blueberry, cranberry and morel mushroom flavors, this red in a wine that delivers pleasure wrapped in a luxurious, fine lace-like delicious texture. 100% Pinot Noir, 100% Stanly Ranch from Carneros AVA in the Napa Valley. Aged for 12 months in 100% French oak barrels, 75% new. This Pinot is sure to please any palate and would make a great addition to your collection.
The combinations with food and wine are endless, but the key is to experiment with what you like the most while allowing the hearty flavors of heavier wines to come to life during the cooler months of autumn.
