Charleston’s dining scene made an impression
In 2014 Mira Winery had a Napa Valley Education Center and Tasting Room in the heart of downtown Charleston, SC. The building had a highly-visible wall that was blank and so we had the idea of creating a mural that would not only depict the history of the city but also honor the incredible food and beverage industry Charleston is known for. Local artist David Boatwright created the incredible “Renoir Redux” and over ten years later we are humbled that, while we no longer have our Tasting Room there, the mural remains an impactful part of the historic city.
"Of the 14 Charleston food-and-beverage superstars who loom over Queen Street in a mural painted by David Boatwright, four have left the industry. Three have moved away. Two have died.
But just over a decade ago, when Napa Valley’s Mira Winery commissioned Charleston’s most celebrated muralist to liven up an exterior wall of its new tasting room, the people depicted on brick were inseparable from the city’s surging culinary scene."
