Drinking Lesson to Understand Wine Better

There is no art to drinking wine.  Sure, using different shaped wine glasses & decanters can accentuate flavors in wine, and even pairing certain wines with certain foods can highlight different components of wine.  But, there is not right or wrong way to drink wine, and if all you know is you like red over white or chilled over not, that is good enough to pour yourself a glass.  However, if you want to increase your knowledge & better understand those wordy wine reviews, Snooth has put together a brief, interactive lesson on the basic phrases and words you need to know to better understand the complex language of wine.

Snooth highlights five key wine components and how to best detect them: acid, tannin, alcohol, sugar and body.  Understanding these will help you be able to translate “crisp” “bright” “highly structured” and other phrases into your drinking experience.

Fortunately, Mother Nature has made it remarkably easy to detect the relative levels of the main wine components. Grab a glass of red wine and taste as we go and you’ll see what I mean.
