Mira Estate 2021 Harvest of Sauvignon Blanc & Sauvignon Gris
The 2021 harvest of our estate sauvignon blanc and sauvignon gris grapes was extraordinary for our very first pick from our vineyard. Weather conditions were ideal for our site in Yountville. As we approach spring, the newly released Mira Estate White Blend 2021 (60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sauvignon Gris) and the Mira Estate Ovum Aureum 2021 (100% Sauvignon Gris made in the Ovum wooden egg fermenter) are great selections for bright, fresh and crisp sensations that pair great with the warmer weather.
The summer of 2021 was relatively long and mild, allowing flavors to develop at a measured pace. The late summer saw no major heat spikes, and thankfully no local fires and smoke. The severe drought continued in the region but our Mira Estate vineyard is lucky enough to have adequate well water allowing a decent crop to establish and ripen evenly. Our first white grapes from the Mira Estate were harvested this year and produced a healthy crop, resulting in wines with a beautiful purity and freshness, coupled with ripe flavors. We knew the site had a winegrowing history but you’re never certain what the grapes will be like until you make the wine. I can say without a doubt, the vines on our estate are already showing great promise.
