Mira Mural Countdown: Robert Stehling
Day 8: Mira Winery is proud to feature Robert Stehling on our mural "Renoir Redux: Exceptional Pairings."
In the 14 days leading up to the July 1st unveiling of “Renoir Redux: Exceptional Pairings” – a building sized mural on Queen Street in Charleston, South Carolina - and the the groundbreaking of the Napa Valley Education Center and Tasting Room, Mira is profiling each of the 14 faces who have impacted the Charleston food scene that are portrayed in the mural.
In 1996, Robert Stehling opened Hominy Grill in Charleston, SC. Instead of attending culinary school, Robert learned to cook under Bill Neal, a well-established southern chef in Chapel Hill, N.C. In Robert’s culinary efforts, he showcases true southern cooking by sticking to classic southern dishes while still adding his own twist to make them original. In 2008, he was named Best Chef Southeast by the James Beard Foundation, which made him the first Charleston-based chef to win this award.
