Mira stops talking Napa grapes, starts growing them: Winery to close downtown tasting room
"After three years of teaching visitors to its Charleston tasting room about the wonders of California wine country, Mira Winery is picking up and moving there," reports Hannah Raskin of The Post and Courier.
The closing of the tasting room is bittersweet and the result of Mira acquiring a 16-acre vineyard one mile south of Yountville, CA. According to our proprietor, Jim "Bear" Dyke, the vineyard and winery will become a world-class facility, designed specifically to accommodate Mira Winemaker Gustavo A. Gonzalez's natural winemaking style.
“I moved my family to Napa last July, and that was a big sort of turning point,” Dyke says. “Then we got our use permit to build our own hospitality house on the property, so it seemed it was time to make a fuller commitment and really be present.”
The downtown Charleston location will close on July 30th, but Mira's southern roots run deep, and we will return to Charleston for wine dinners and will remain on local wine menus.
