Stop and Smell the Rosé
Looking to improve your wine palate? Well we know just the wine, Rosé. Just to be clear, rosé is a red wine, not a White Zinfandel. Rosé is a red wine that was offered only a chance to “peak” at the skins during fermentation. This results in a slightly tannic, dry wine with a grey/pink hue. Although Rosé originated from the Southern parts of Spain and France, the U.S. is gaining steam in producing wonderful, crisps varietals. Mira’s 2011 Rosé boasts notes of dried currant, wild strawberry and cumquats, all harmonizing in a subtle and graceful finish.
In Wine Glass Marketing’s article “Everything is coming up Rosés”, they suggest an all pink pairing to compliment your palate. Try foods that match the color of your wine like smoked salmon, sliced honey ham, or a beet salad.
“Salty foods tend to do better with Rosé than with white wines because of the tannins. So, anything from dried cheeses to olives will work great, too.”

Tip: Just like springtime, Rosé should be slightly chilled, not too cold or too hot.
