We Made History in Charleston…What’s Next?

The opening of the Mira Napa Valley Education Center & Tasting Room in the heart of downtown Charleston was a historic new idea perfectly suited for a historic city. Our goal — with our 100-year-old vine, soil samples from our vineyards, barrel stave ceiling and educational tasting flights — was to give people a true Napa Valley experience. We wanted to expose guests to the magic that is the Napa Valley, the vineyard and wine making process, and Mira wines.

We can’t thank Charleston and the more than 22,000 guests we have served over the last three years enough for making our idea a huge success!

Charleston has been an incredible launching pad for Mira from the beginning. We put wine in the ocean to experiment with aging and coined the term Aquaoir. We hosted the Judgment of Charleston and bested some of the best wines from Bordeaux and the Napa Valley in a blind tasting.

Our success in Charleston with guests and our restaurant partners inspired us to seek out and acquire our own land in the Napa Valley and, in the coming weeks, we will be breaking ground on our own production facility and hospitality house and planting our own vines.

Vince Lombardi once said, “Success demands a singleness of purpose.” Toward that end, the Mira Napa Valley Education Center & Tasting Room in Charleston will close to the public on July 30, 2018, after an incredible three-year run.

So what’s next for Charleston? We still plan to have a big presence. We will keep working with our restaurant partners and wine shops to make sure they have access to whatever they need. We hope to do more wine dinners not just in Charleston but all across the state of South Carolina. Our South Carolina Wine Society members will be able to move their membership to our traditional wine club and receive regular shipments after the June Wine Society pick up. And our supporters all across South Carolina will be able to buy wine directly from our website after we close.

We are putting together some special events over the coming months to celebrate our time together so stay tuned! In the meantime, we are still open for business and hope you will make another visit for a glass of wine and a picture with the vine, the soil, the mural – or to just relax on the patio.

And, as always, thank you for your support of Mira.
