Winemaker Wisdom: Post September Update & Video

Last week saw some very nice, warm weather that was just what Cabernet Sauvignon needed to turn the corner and lose some vegetal characters. We harvested our first Cabernet Sauvignon (Schweizer Vineyard Block 4) and it is sitting in two of our wood tanks. We also completed our Chardonnay harvest by bringing in the grapes from Las Trancas Vineyard. The Pinot Noir has all made its way into barrels for malolactic fermentation.

Looking at this week we will finish Schweizer Vineyard by harvesting Block 7 on Tuesday.  We will also visit Garvey Vineyard and begin harvesting both blocks in the Home Ranch section. Petit Verdot will be drained and pressed and filled to barrels. Never a dull moment during Napa Harvest!
