WineWatch Tells The Mira Story, Plus Food & Wine Pairings
Mira was honored to recently be featured at a Winemaker Dinner at Café Maxx in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chef Oliver paired several succulent dishes with an array of Mira wines (click here to see the mouthwatering lineup!) Andrew Lampasone, a consultant for Café Maxx and proprietor of Wine Watch — a boutique wine shop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a selection of more than 3,000 wines – helped host the dinner and has posted this recap on the evening.
What does Andrew have to say about Mira Winery:
– Premiere Winemaker with the right connections such as Larry Hyde, great wine from great fruit sources
– Style is unique, more restrained, more savory old-world European style
– Very innovative…everything from using torpedo barrels to underwater aging
“Definitely a label to watch”
What were some of Andrew’s favorite food & Mira wine pairings?
– grilled grouper fingers with mango ginger glaze and either the Sauvignon Blanc or Rose
– oysters and either the Sauvignon Blanc or Rose
– hazelnut crusted mahi mahi “absolutely fabulous” with CH
What did Andrew think of the wines?
– Regarding the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc “crisp, clean whites…both of these wines made you want to have another glass”
– Regarding the Syrah “plump and light…several ppl liked the Syrah the best…excellent juice”
– Regarding the Cabernet Sauvignon “lovely freshness”
