Honored to be a part of Premiere Napa Valley
Mira is honored to be a member of Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), a non profit trade association that has been cultivating excellence for 70 years by inspiring its 500 members to produce consistent quality wines, provide environmental leadership and care for the extraordinary place they call home.
Every year the NVV hosts hundreds of top wine trade and media from around the globe for what many in the industry refer to as “the best week of the year for wine professionals.” This week of networking is known as Premiere Napa Valley & this year Premiere is the week of February 17-23.
“Napa Valley will be firing on all cylinders,” commented Linda Reiff, president and CEO of the Napa Valley Vintners. ”It’s the best week to be here and we look forward to rolling out the red carpet for the many retailers, restaurateurs, wholesalers and wine media who will be joining us.”
Throughout Premiere week there are several events, parties and tasting for licensed wine sellers, including retailers, restaurateurs and wholesalers to attend, concluding with the highly anticipated grand finale 18th Annual Premiere Napa Valley Barrel Tasting and Live Auction. During this event top winemakers will offer a wine created exclusively for the barrel tasting and auction event and are not otherwise available for purchase. Each lot is sold to only one bidder and proceeds support the NVV’s mission to promote, protect and enhance the Napa Valley appellation, its wines, vintners and community. 90% of this years wines are from the much-heralded 2012 vintage. The descriptions reflect how a winemaker, or collaboration of winemakers, crafts these once-in-a-lifetime lots from specific vineyard sites (even particular blocks or rows of vines); from grape varieties or special blends not commercially offered by the winery; or by using innovative fermentation techniques or unique barrel-aging regimes.
“No cellar is complete without the inclusion of these highest quality, rarest Napa Valley wines,” commented Reiff. “Any collector looking for something truly special will find it in the Premiere Napa Valley wine catalog.”
Mira’s Winemaker Gustavo Gonzalez has created a very special offering for this event. A 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap District, Schweizer Vineyard. This wine is sourced from 15 year old vines, fermented in five-ton French oak wood tanks with 50 days of skin contact, and is aged in 100% new Taransaud French oak barrels for 24 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. We are very proud of this wine and look forward to sharing it at the tasting and live auction February 23.
