Mira Chardonnay 2014
Just outside the town of Napa, close to the Silverado Trail, is Mira’s block in the Las Trancas Vineyard of the Oak Knoll Appellation–where the grapes are grown for the Mira Chardonnay 2014.
This wine is a delicate expression of Oak Knoll District Chardonnay. Subtle and reserved, honeysuckle, lime, apricot nose. Concentrated, full-bodied, mango and tropical flavors. Hazelnut, creamy, savory finish. It is aged in Stainless Steel Barrels with a little bit of neutral French oak cigar barrels to maintain the freshness of the wine while still giving it a lot of complexity from the leaves of the vine.
“We wanted to produce a wine that doesn’t undergo malolactic fermentation. This site, given the soil and how happy the vines are, it provides a natural acidity that allows us to maintain a wine that is crisp but not too tart, and still elegant.” – Gustavo A. Gonzalez, Winemaker.
